Family Dentistry and Preventive Care

Family Dentistry

Because our mission is to promote optimum health, a cornerstone of our practice is preventive dentistry. We welcome all family members in our practice – especially kids! Dr. Caughey believes that good habits are formed early, and takes special care with our youngest patients. For all of our patients, we’ve taken the routine dental visit to a new level. A visit with our hygienist is never “just a cleaning.” Why? With breakthroughs in Advanced Dental Hygiene, cleanings are more effective and focused on comprehensive oral health.

Aesthetic Dentistry

Aesthetic Dentistry

Dr. Caughey believes that all dental procedures should be performed with an eye on aesthetics. From simple restorative treatments to more specialized procedures, the appearance of your smile is always kept in mind. Teeth can be whitened quickly in-office or at home at your convenience. Stained, cracked or chipped teeth can be repaired and missing teeth can be replaced. Dr. Caughey takes an active role in assuring that all her patients understand the options that are available; she believes in a co-discovery of conditions and strives to create treatment plans that take into account all aspects of your dental care. Her goal is help discover what Aesthetic Dentistry could do for you.

Occlusal Rehabilitation

Dr. Caughey has pursued hundreds of hours of continuing dental education to learn more about the complex nature of occlusion. When teeth are out of alignment, a variety of TMJ problems can develop, from headaches and migraines, to neck problems and frequently, the premature loss of tooth enamel. Occlusal rehabilitation can improve the function and comfort of the bite, and relieve a host of related problems.

Dental Sleep Medicine

Who can you place a value on good night’s sleep? When studies show that 87 million Americans snore and have breathing disturbances during sleep, many folks might not be getting the rest they need (to say nothing of their bed-mates). Sleep disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can have dire health consequences–and a field of dentistry is emerging to identify and treat these prevalent conditions.

As a dentist, Dr. Caughey sees herself as an early responder to potential sleep disorders. Given that snoring and sleep apnea are often more present in males (by a 2 to 1 margin), and that men are likely to visit their dentist more frequently than their primary care physician, our practice is positioned to detect the warning signs of sleep disorders and make a referral to an M.D. for further study.
